The USA market remains important and highly strategic to the Zimbabwean economy. Being the biggest economy in the world, this extremely diversified economy underpinned by technological innovation and strong aggregate demand provides huge opportunities capable of building strong economic linkages and synergies with the Zimbabwe economy.
However, the current low volume of business between the two economies does not reflect the full potential of the two countries. The export basket is relatively small, dominated by tobacco, arts products, wood and animal products, and the same goes for imports which consist mainly of machinery, vehicles, cereals and pharmaceutical products.
The current subdued trade performance offers a great opportunity for the two countries to increase the volume of business.
