Atlanta Black Chamber and IMPI INC – Trade and Investment Mission to Zimbabwe: 10 – 17 March 2024

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade officially opened Zim – USA Business Forum on March 11, 2024. The Acting Minister said the trade and investment mission to Zimbabwe is fulfillment of the of the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Washington D.C.’s mandate of pursuing economic diplomacy, aimed at enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Zimbabwe and the United States of America.

Accordingly, the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Washington D.C. facilitated engagements between the Atlanta Black Chamber and CEO Roundtable, who are principal cohosts, together with the ZIDA and CZI.

The Global Opportunities Committee Chairperson of the Atlanta Black Chamber, Mr Ricardo Berris addressing a press conference at Cresta Hotel, Msasa soon after landing in Harare on the 10^th of March 2024.

In his statement, Mr Ricardo Berries, highlighted that the mission to Zimbabwe by the Atlanta Black Chamber was part of a broader mission to Southern Africa which included visits to South Africa and Zambia. He articulated the benefits of the trade mission to Zimbabwe which include;  

• attracting American investment into priority sectors of the economy, which included manufacturing, energy, mining, real estate, ICT, tourism, among others;
• Assisting in mobilizing affordable capital for these investment projects. The initial investment value targeted amounts to over US$500 million.
• Promoting Zimbabwe exports to the USA, through the following interventions:  
  • Development of supply chain strategy for a group of commodities and companies.
  • International trade compliance, including free trade agreement, free and foreign trade zones, documentation review, duty/tariff, and risk assessment; and
  • US Customs clearance for Imports to the U.S, including documentation.

The Chamber wrapped up its mission by signing seven (7) MOUs with several businesses in Zimbabwe, before embarking on a relaxing weekend at us on the seven wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls.
