EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZIMBABWE’S DISCLAIMER ON PURPORTED REGISTRAR GENERAL’S AGENTS FOR ISSUING ZIMBABWE’S NATIONAL IDENTITY, PASSPORT AND OTHER IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS
It has come to the attention of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the USA, that several purported agents of the Registrar General’s Office are advertising that they facilitate the swift acquisition of identity documents, passports, and drivers licences by Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora, in the USA in particular, on social media groups such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp Groups. Please note that the Registrar General’s Office is the sole authority on processing and production of such identity documents and only works with the Zimbabwean Embassies abroad to cater for the needs of Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora.
Therefore, the Embassy of Zimbabwe takes this opportunity to advise Zimbabweans in need of such important documents to process their applications through the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe, which is physically located at 1608 New Hampshire Avenue NW, Washington DC, USA, 20009. Information on all application procedures, requirements, service and processing fees are outlined on the Embassy’s website address; www.zimembassydc.org
The Zimbabwean Diaspora is further advised to jealously guard their identification particulars and desist from sharing these with bogus “agents,” lest their personal information may be used in identity theft scams.
Moreover, engaging such bogus elements may result in the Diasporans losing their hard-earned money and also risking being issued with fake documents that may jeopardise their legal status in the host country and their career prospects.
The Embassy of Zimbabwe does not charge any “facilitation fees” outside the stipulated service fees, to which applicants are issued a Government receipt.
